4Good overview of essential bidding conventions - but shallow  Oct 29, 2003 By Gerald Robie
I suppose this book fulfills its purpose of providing an exposure to basic bidding conventions, and, from this perspective, its a good starting point. However, since it does cover so many conventions, the explanation and examples and not as in depth as a serious bridge player would like to see. I gave this book 4 stars because I think that it is a good reference book that should be in your bridge book library because it serves as a starting point for developing a bidding system. Serious players will want to go into more depth regarding the conventions that they decide to employ and should refer to other, focused books for comprehensive explanations.

5Advanced Conventions  Jan 03, 2006 By S. P. Schwall
Terrific reference book. Covers Forcing No Trump, responding to preempts, Snapdragon Doubles, Unusual v. Unusual, Puppet Stayman, 1430 RKC, Q bidding, and many others. The good thing about this book is that it covers ALL aspects of each convention, from the first bid to all follow-up bids and responses.

5Another excellent book from The 25...You Should know series  Nov 10, 2009 By A. Parker "fujichan"
Barbara Seagram does it again. Every one of her bridge books is instructive, concise, and easy to understand. The quizzes at the end of each chapter perfectly capture the lesson taught it each section. I recommend all of her books to my students and have found this one to be helpful to me as I become a better bridge player. Perhaps I will not play most of the conventions in this book but as a competetive player one should try to be familiar with what the opposition is playing. Highly recommended!

5Essential To My Game! Yea for a 2nd book! Hope they write 25 more more!  Jan 04, 2009 By Louise Sullivan
The 25 Conventions books were essential for me in reviewing the conventions I knew, and learning the conventions I was familiar with and wanted to learn well enough to use and add to my bidding system. Both books are full of the most popular and useful conventions. They each are written in an easy to understand clear and simple language. And they have full explanations of each convention, plus a summary, and quiz. ~~~ They have made a big change in my play on Bridge Base Online as knowing more conventions has expanded my skills, and opened up the range of good partners available for me to play with. ~~~ And, of course, my partner Barb (that I play with in my local duplicate club) and I have fun playing our conventions. And we always enjoy a lunch out to study our bridge and bring a deck of cards and the books along. ~~~ The convention in this book that i added to the conventions I play is DONT. It was great fun to review the conventions I already use, learn new conventions, and to become familiar with what the opponents arsenal contains.
