Italy is unique in that different playing card patterns (styles) are used in different regions. And each region is known for a characteristic card game such as briscola or scoppa. The map below shows Italian playing card usage by region. Although a variety of patterns are still produced, the most popular styles are Napoletane, Siciliane and Piacentine.
